Season 2008 Game 7: Sliders

Happy Birthday Shane “Rudders” Ruddick and welcome to our new interstate Recruit Jeremie “Jezza” Fry.

Once again an almost full list to pick from made things easy and although we had a few hic-cups throughout the game there is no doubt the Achilles Heel in our CLOSE ENCOUNTER this week was the “GOLDEN GLOVES PERFORMANCE” by Sliders Short Stop JOHN MCQUIRE. We rallied again with the bat when it was needed but just fell short with a 15-14 loss. With smiles all round and a different atmosphere I am sure we are all looking forward to the rest of the season.

“KEEP SMILING, KEEP TALKING, and HAVE FUN”

Defence

Players were moved around a bit this week and I must admit it worked well and showed our versatility across all positions on the diamond. Our defence continues to improve and with only a couple of slight blemishes all looks well going into the second half of the season.

Best Player: The battery again performed in exceptional style with only one BB for the game. Stew fought back when behind on the count and Andy picked up his first K2.

Others: The infield and outfield all worked hard and it was great to see communication back in the team.

Offence

A couple of hic-cups with runners on and interpretation of the sliding rule could have seen a draw but at the end of the day we need to concentrate on scoring runs early as we did in the 1st couple of games. No doubt the worm will turn for us in the near future.

Batting: Once again we managed only 13 hits and 1 BB for the game as apposed to 18 and 1 BB for Sliders.

Best Batting: Frizz’s home run in the 2nd innings.
