Season 2008 Game 1: Arrks

Our first game as a new team against the Arrks with an unfortunate loss 33-20. View all the photos from the game here.

Our illustrious coach John Connell had to step up and play today as Jarren had twisted his ankle in the dying seconds of a basketball game earlier in the week. Jarren fulfilled his duties as scorer and sidelines support, and copped the first team fine of the season for his efforts.

The Brewers batting line-up is shaping up nicely; we made 20 runs this game with Dan and Clint leading from the front with some spectacular home runs.

Here’s Andy rounding third wearing his game face, followed by Dan’s victorious sprint home after a beautiful hit out to the left outfield.

Not to be outdone, Clint not only stepped up and hit a home run, but put in the extra effort to nearly lap John home.

Al pitched a great game for the Brewers and took a couple of terrific catches, showing the younger members of the team how it’s done.

Andy took the challenge from Al, here he is tagging a runner between third and second before throwing to Mark on second for a sensational double-play.

In the end it wasn’t enough to contain the Arrks batting line-up who ran through for 33 before the end of play. Confusion on the field amongst the players new to softball let us down in the end, but as we build experience on the field we’ll climb to the top of the ladder.
